As the pavemen of the charges lies in the statement
that I was under the influence of liquor or the Erd. and Erd. ingt.
I wish in the first instance to state for that for nearly three
years I have beez practically a total ebetainer and that for the
last six or seven months prier to the End. Meroh I have taken ro

this statement, but at present I wish to refer to Hr. E. Fletcher,

been in the habit of taking it regularly, and set up a craving which I again feolishly attempted te satisfy by taking further
